LPFM Update

Here’s the update:

We’re in a holding pattern.  Unless the Local Community Radio Act of 2009
(To implement the recommendations of the Federal Communications Commission report to the Congress regarding low-power FM service) makes it through Congress there’s no Radio Free New Hope, or any new local LPFM stations for that matter.

What can you do to help? If you’re a New Hoper like us, your representative is Rep. Patrick Murphy (PA-8). Currently the bill has 73 supporters in Congress.  Mr. Murphy is not one of them…yet. Give him a call and ask him to sign on as a co-sponsor and support H.R. 1147/S.592, The Local Community Radio Act.  His digits are 202-225-4276.  Or send a letter instead using this fine tool from Free Press. It’s easy to do, and it makes a big difference.

Thanks to all the active supporters trying to make this happen for all our communities, escpecially Prometheus Radio Project in Philly.
